This article is intended for families interested in applying for the Georgia Promise Scholarship.
A student who has been enrolled in a Georgia public school for two consecutive semesters, OR is a rising kindergarten student, AND:
- Resides in a Georgia public school attendance zone on the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement’s list of the 25% lower-performing public schools. (If you reside in the attendance zone of at least one school, you meet the attendance zone eligibility requirement.) It is not based upon the public school the student attends.
- The parent has resided in Georgia for 1+ year (with the exception of active-duty military) per the Georgia Education Savings Authority’s regulations.
Students in active duty military families do not need to meet the two consecutive semesters in a Georgia public school or the 1-year Georgia residency requirements for the parent or guardian.
If a family does not have a Georgia ID, they may upload active duty military orders instead. These applications may go through manual review.
Unless there are more applicants than funding available, a family’s income will not factor into the prioritization of applicants for enrollment in the Fall Semester. Only applicants who have a household income level at or below 400% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) will be considered for enrollment in the Spring Semester in accordance with the Promise Scholarship Act. This process is repeated each program year for each Fall and Spring application period.
