This article is intended for parents who do not have a 1040 to apply for the Georgia Promise Scholarship Program
Documents Required to Apply
The 1040 tax form must be a copy of your most recent federal tax return and include your full name, that matches the name used on the application, and residential address. All pages are required, and an AGI must be visible.
Additional Approved Income Documentation:
If a 1040 cannot be provided, parents can upload the following information to still be considered for the program:
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
- Medicaid
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
- Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
- Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
Important Items to Consider
- Only the above documents are considered approved documentation. Please note, any affidavit sent in must have supporting income documentation uploaded alongside it. In addition, income affidavits must state that the applicant’s family household income is either above or below 400FPL. Affidavits submitted without supporting documentation will be denied.
- In order to have a successful income check, please verify your SSN is in fact, correct.
- Please ensure income documentation match the name used on the application. If applicable, please add any additional filer or spouse to your application if taxes were filed jointly.
If there are any extenuating circumstances that should be considered during income review, please provide any additional relevant documentation, alongside a notarized affidavit. Income affidavits must state that the applicant’s family household income is either above or below 400FPL. Please note that a notarized affidavit alone is not sufficient for us to make a decision.
