Opt-In/Out Selection Guide

This article explains how to confirm your student’s participation in the Georgia Promise Scholarship program.

Opting In/Out Information:

Opting in means you plan to use scholarship funds. Your student must remain enrolled in public school through the end of the current semester. You should withdraw your student only after the semester ends and before the next term begins.

Example:

• If you apply in March, your student stays enrolled through the spring semester and may withdraw before the next school year
• If you apply in September, your student stays enrolled through the fall semester and may withdraw before the spring semester

Step 1: Open the Confirmation Window

• Log in to your Parent Portal
• On your dashboard, locate the Announcements panel on the right
• Find the message about opting in
• Click “Confirm participation”

Step 2: Review Student Selection

• A “Confirm Student Participation” window will open 
• Your eligible students will already be selected as opting in Review the students listed
   

Step 3: Complete Required Consents

Check both consent boxes to continue:

• Accept responsibility for program funds
• Allow access to student records for processing

The “Continue” button will remain inactive until both boxes are checked

Step 4: Continue

After checking both boxes, click “Continue”

Step 5: Final Confirmation

• Review the students listed on the confirmation screen
• Click “Confirm” to complete your selection

Step 6: View Updated Status

• After confirming, you will return to your dashboard 
• Your student’s status will update to “Approved”
