Odyssey is here to support you as you navigate your child’s educational journey through the Georgia Promise Scholarship Program. To make the most of your scholarship funds and stay within the program’s guidelines, it’s important to understand how purchasing and reimbursements work.
Reimbursements Are Not Allowed
Under the current program rules, families are not allowed to receive reimbursements for any educational purchases. This includes curriculum, textbooks, online schools, tutoring services, technology, or educational supplies. The only exception will be for certain eligible transportation expenses. More detailed guidance on what qualifies as a reimbursable transportation cost will be shared soon.
Paying Invoices Out of Pocket
Do not pay any invoices out of pocket if you plan to use your Georgia Promise Scholarship funds for that purchase. All approved purchases must be made directly through the Odyssey Marketplace, which is scheduled to open in July 2025. The Marketplace will be the only way to use Georgia Promise funds.
Wait for the Marketplace Before Purchasing
Families should wait until the Odyssey Marketplace opens before making any purchases. Buying services or materials ahead of time could result in the expense not being covered by the program. Waiting ensures that funds are used properly and that purchases meet program requirements.
By following these guidelines, families can ensure their student’s Georgia Promise funds are used effectively and in full compliance with the program.
